Homeopathic Treatment

Homeopathy is widely recognised as a safe, gentle and effective way to alleviate symptoms and provide support for both minor and serious health issues. It does not interfere with other forms of treatment.

The official definition is as follows:

Homeopathy is a system of natural healthcare that has been in worldwide use for over 200 years. Homeopathy treats each person as a unique individual with the aim of stimulating their own healing ability. A homeopath selects the most appropriate medicine based on the individual’s specific symptoms and personal level of health.

– Definition unanimously endorsed by the Society of Homeopaths, The Homeopathy Action Trust, The Alliance of Registered Homeopaths and The British Homeopathic Association.

The Treatment Process

Homeopathy works following the principle of ‘like cures like’. Once a clear and complete symptom picture has emerged, I will match it with one of the many homeopathic medicines at my disposal. Following your visit, I will work on my case notes, make my choice and send you the medicine within the next few days. Sometimes I may give it to you at the end of the consultation.

Initial consultation

Before the first consultation, I will ask you to complete a patient information history form and to send it back to me before we meet. My advice for this would be: don’t hold back and fill it in thoroughly. Take it as an opportunity to reflect on/clarify things for yourself. Everything will be kept confidential.

The first appointment will take up to one and a half hours (this may be shorter for a child – approximately one hour). The purpose of this assessment is to allow me to form a holistic picture of you and your health needs.

After the appointment

I will work on my case notes and prescribe a homeopathic medicine for you. It will be sent by post within the next few days with instructions on how to take your remedy and additional information.

Follow up consultations

Generally it is recommended that the initial consultation is followed up by two further sessions in order to assess the effectiveness of the treatment. The second appointment will take between 30 to 45 minutes and is usually scheduled within 4 to 6 weeks of the previous appointment.

How you can prepare

Come with an open mind and let yourself be led by the moment. To help establish a good overview I will ask you about any prescribed medication you are currently taking and about your own and your family’s medical history.

Cancellations

Please inform me as soon as possible of any cancellation and give me a minimum of 24 hours notice.
